With exposure to 2000+ toxins every day, it’s no surprise that detoxification is a growing topic of conversation! Follow our Detox in 5 Easy Steps plan to learn what works best for you and to learn more about your body and how it functions.
1. Awareness is the first of our 5 steps to detox. In fact, our bodies detoxify naturally, meaning that a detox you choose to do is in support of the body’s natural process of removing toxins.
Knowing your starting point is a key component of this first step, since you can’t manage what you don’t quantify. Since you know your body and lifestyle, pick a percentage you want to detox, i.e. “by this time next year, I am 30% cleaner!” What’s your level of toxicity and where do you want it be, on a scale of 1 to 10?
2. The mental approach is the second step. Did you know that we create the most toxicity in our bodies with our minds? Negative (toxic) thoughts lead to fear, anxiousness, hurt and negativity. Think about how your body feels and what your posture looks like when you are thinking negatively.
We have upwards of 60,000 thoughts per day; most of them are the same as yesterday, and for many of us, half are negative. Difficult emotions distract us from ease, productivity and so much more. Judgments are part of negative thinking as well. Instead of judging, consider that the person you are judging is having a difficult day and she is doing the best she can! Changing your thoughts allows you to see that other person with compassion and to declutter the millions of possible stories your mind creates.
At Saje, we like to use Dr. Divi’s 17- second rule. When you have an issue that’s raising your blood pressure, count backwards from 17 to 0. If you reach 0 and you don’t have a resolution for your problem, go and do something else. Do something that makes you feel energized and uplifted. It’s MUCH easier to resolve something when you aren’t feeling stressed out and answers come more easily when we aren’t tense and upset. If that doesn’t work today, keep doing other things that raise your energy level and wait until tomorrow. Notice how issues have a way of getting smaller after a good night’s rest!
3. Next, listen to what your body tells you. Understanding that each of us has a different body with unique needs is key to being healthy and detoxified. Your body will let you know what foods make you feel nourished, how much water you need to drink to stay hydrated and how much exercise you need to stay fit. Use your intuition; it’s never wrong!! Consider 6 small meals per day versus 3 larger meals and whether you are hungry or thirsty. Eat natural foods that are ALIVE and raw, containing enzymes that support your body’s processes.
4. Our 4th step is cleanses. Are they for you? Go back to step 3 and check in with your intuition to find out! There are many types of cleanses from mild to intense and our team has tried all of these with great success:
- Oil pulling with coconut or sesame oil
- Juice Cleanses
- Master Cleanse
- Gluten, sugar, and/or dairy elimination diets
- Water with Apple Cider Vinegar
- A range of cleanses from the health food store – we recommend speaking with your naturopath or nutritionist
5. And lastly, we believe in natural medicine remedies and life enhancers. In Ayurveda, the philosophy is that food is our first medicine. Our food isn’t as clean or as nutritious as it once was and many of us put so much more than food into our bodies. This creates a greater demand on our bodies to eliminate toxins.
At Saje, we offer a number of products that support the body’s natural detoxification process. Did you know that most essential oils ARE detoxifying? Some are more powerful than others, such as those found in our Cellucleanse, Eater’s Digest, Cellutone, Crave Away and Super Detox products. Through the process of elimination via the skin, liver, pancreas, kidneys, blood, lungs and lymphatic system, every one of us automatically detoxes every day, unless there is an extreme imbalance in the body.
Natural medicine, and in particular, essential oils, both supports and enhances these natural processes. Every layer of essential oil products and remedies you use is another detoxifying layer.
Choose what’s easy to add into your daily regimen:
