Are you aware of how brilliant your inner glow is? Are you aware that by allowing yourself to shine your brilliance, you elevate not only your own wellness, but also the wellness of others? And are you aware, that when you share your unique talents with the world, you encourage others to do the same?
One of my favourite quotes, which funnily enough, I encountered while working at our Saje Metropolis store in 2003, is from Marianne Williamson: “It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
That line is so powerful: you give others permission to do the same. For some reason, many of us don’t feel that it’s ok to be happy, bubbly, bright, and exuberant.
Some of today’s philosophers and inspirational speakers, including the amazing, late Wayne Dyer, not only give us permission, they implore us to shine, and to shine brightly.
In my view, the way we connect with this inner glow is linked to our passion. When we are doing what truly makes us happy, we shine. Happiness makes us glow, from the inside out. When it comes to the Wholistic model of wellness, being healthy is directly linked to being happy. Some refer to this as “being in our dharma.”
At a yoga class I attended this summer, the wise Seane Corn said we don’t have to do something big. But choose to do something. Choose to do your thing. Many of us are attached to the idea that we need to make big waves with our offering to the world. But it needn’t be huge. When it comes from that place of dharma, happiness, and authenticity, it doesn’t matter the size.
I personally believe that to truly have that “healthy glow,” we need to give as much attention to the wellness of our hearts and our minds as we do to our physical wellness.
Here are some tips on connecting with your inner glow:
Know that you are UNIQUE: no single person on this big, blue planet is the same as you. What makes you happy does not need to mirror what makes someone else happy. When you do what makes you happy, you not only inspire others to follow suit; you also inspire yourself to seek more of the same.
Meditation and Mindfulness Practices: so many of life’s answers are available to us through silence. Set an intention of curiosity and spend some time on cushion or on a yoga mat in stillness and notice what answers come your way!
Be kind to yourself: this has been a recurring theme for myself and for those around me lately. We are tough on ourselves so that we achieve more, do more. But when we are kind to ourselves, we get to be human beings instead of human doings. Give yourself a compliment while looking in the mirror and notice what it does to your face, your smile, your eyes. That’s your inner glow.
Tools: use the tools available to you. Essential oil diffuser blends such as Goddess, Bloom, Citrus Dream, Cloud Nine or anything containing neroli, jasmine or rose are what I love to use to feel euphoric and to let go of the stresses in my life. You might choose to listen to music, to recite a mantra, to go for a run. Know what tools work well to elevate your happiness factor, to help you shine that beautiful, brilliant inner glow of yours!
Choice: every day we make hundreds, possibly thousands of choices that affect our wellness. Salad or fries, go to the gym or watch a movie, cycling or driving…Every day, learn more and more about the importance of balance between every level of wellness. Wholistic Wellness asks us to nurture all areas of our well-being. Our emotions and our state of mind both have a direct effect on our physical wellness. Negative thoughts lead to stress which leads to dis-ease. Choose to shift your perspective. Choose to hold the highest thought. Choose to be happy. Choose to shine.
I have to agree with Marianne Williamson when it comes to shining our inner glow: “It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”
Who are you not to be? The world needs your light, your brilliance, your inner glow. We live in a unique time, when we have the choice to live a life of purpose, on purpose, by living with passion.
What are you choosing?
